Met Office weather: Hour-by-hour forecast for Bristol as yellow 'danger to life' thunderstorm warning kicks in

It's looking set to be a wet evening across the South West, including in Bristol.

An updated weather warning has been issued by The Met Office warning that "heavy showers" and "thunderstorms" are on the way until midnight. The forecasters have said that there is a chance there will be flooding of homes and businesses, causing some damage.

They also forecast that lightning strikes could cause some problems. Not only that they have said: "There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life and there is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads."

As the weather hits the forecasters are also warning that there is a "chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services". It could also cause difficult driving conditions and some road closures, not to mention power cuts.

Here is an hour by hour forecast for Bristol for this evening.

5pm - the rain is expected to hit, temperatures reaching max 14 degrees.

6pm - the rain will get heavier, temperature remaining at 14.

7pm - heavy rain will continue to hit the city

8pm - heavy rain continues, temperature reaches 13 degrees

9pm - heavy rain over much of Bristol, temperature remains at 13

10pm - heavy rain continues, temperature steady

11pm - heavy rain, no change in temperature

12am- persistent rain as the night continues

The rain is only going to stop around 1am tomorrow but there will still be some rain as the night continues.

South Gloucestershire

5pm - light rain, temperature of 14

6pm - dry but overcast, temperature of 14

7pm - heavy rain starts, temperature of 13

8pm - heavy rain, temperature 13

9pm - heavy still, temperature 12

10pm - heavy rain, temperature steady

11pm - heavy rain, temperature steady

12am - heavy rain, temperature steady

South West forecast

Tonight:

Showers easing this evening to leave a mainly dry night with variable cloud and clear spells. The odd showers remains possible, particularly in the north. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Monday:

A rather cloudy day with bright or sunny spells at times. But there is a risk of showery rain affecting the south coast later in the day. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Rather cloudy on Tuesday with some sunny spells and showers. A band of rain moves east on Wednesday. Likely drier with some sunshine on Thursday.
