Met Office weather forecast shows Wales set to bask in unbroken sunshine for rest of the week

Those keen to dust off their autumn wardrobes may want to hold out a little longer, as an Indian Summer continues this week across Wales.

Though the official start of autumn is just a few days away, temperatures show no sign of giving in to the season change through at least the end of the week.

Maximum temperatures across Wales will climb as high as 25°C at times through Sunday.

Cardiff is forecast to hit 22°C on Saturday while Porthmadog surges to 24°C.

Elsewhere, there will be widespread temperatures in the upper teens to the low 20s.

Sun-seekers should take advantage of the summer-like heat, as meteorologists say it won't last much longer.

Met Office forecaster Mark Wilson said: "It looks like this will be the last time we will see these sort of temperatures."

Sunday looks to mark the end of the hot spell, as wet weather signals a decline in temperatures.

The last day of the week will linger around between 17-18°C in many locations, and each day thereafter looks to fall further.

By Wednesday next week, temperatures could be as many as ten degrees lower than those predicted for this week.

Saturday will welcome blazing sunshine across much of Wales. (Met Office)

According to the office's long-range weather forecast: "As we look ahead into the final week of September changeable weather is likely to dominate for many.

"Outbreaks of rain, which may be heavy at times, are likely across Wales.

"Winds are also expected to strengthen with the with the risk of gales in the north and west of the UK."
