Met Office weather forecast says downpours will hit Bristol this half term

In true autumnal fashion, Bristol is set to have a soggy half term week with a band of persistent rain coming in.

So if you are planning on doing day trips this half term it looks like a good idea to pack the galoshes and umbrellas.

The Met Office has the rain will start on Tuesday followed by blustery showers on Wednesday, then more wet weather on Thursday.

Monday will see sunny spells and showers, often heavy with a risk of thunder.

It's forecasted to be rather windy, though easing down towards the end of the day and the maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tell us how you've been coping lately in The Great Big Mood Survey.

Here is what the Met Office is forecasting for the week ahead:

Sunday, October 25:

A mix of sunny spells with blustery showers, heavy at times with a risk of thunder and hail, affecting all parts of the region. Rather windy, particularly in the far west and near the coast elsewhere. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight will bring blustery showers, often heavy and at times possibly thundery, throughout the night interspersed with occasional clear spells. Remaining windy, at times very windy in the far west. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Monday, October 26

Another day of sunny spells and showers, often heavy with a risk of thunder. Rather windy, though easing down towards the end of the day. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Typically autumnal weather. A band of more persistent rain arriving Tuesday morning, followed by blustery showers on Wednesday, then more wet weather on Thursday.

What is the outlook for the rest of October and early November?

The Met Office has said there is a chance of gale force winds between October 29 and November 7.

The Met Office said: "Unsettled conditions are expected to dominate for the rest of October, with showers or longer spells of rain interspersed with occasional sunny spells.

"Strong winds are also likely with gales possible at times.

"The wettest, windiest weather is most likely in the north and west of the UK whilst the best of any drier or brighter weather across the south and east.

"It will become milder however. A change to generally drier, more settled conditions is expected for the start of November with any strong winds, showers or longer spells of rain most likely confined to northern areas.

"Elsewhere winds will probably become mainly light. These more settled conditions bring an increased risk of colder weather with overnight frost and morning fog, particularly across the south."
