Met Office weather forecast for UK - heavy rain to batter Bristol

It will be a wet Wednesday for Bristol and much of the UK as a band of heavy rain trundles across the country during the day.

It will begin a rollercoaster week of rain one day, sunshine the next, as Bristol settles into an unsettled period of weather that feels more like autumn than summer.

The rain will arrive in the South West overnight and is due to have reached Bristol by 5am, with prolonged heavy rain falling as day breaks and the rush hour begins.

The Met office forecast is for a 90 per cent chance of rain dropping to around 50-60 per cent chance as the morning continues.

Wednesday morning will be a mixture of spells of sunshine but with heavy showers too, and by lunchtime the skies will darken and it will rain pretty much for the rest of the working day.

It will be cool - only around 17deg C and with a brisk wind gusting up to 26mph, Wednesday will feel particularly autumnal.

The Met Office is predicting it could dry up by around 6pm or 7pm, and the forecast is then for a fairly dry evening and into Thursday.

Thursday will be a much better day - no rain is forecast and there could even be spells of sunshine during the later part of Thursday afternoon, with temperatures getting up to 20 deg C.

Looking further ahead, the outlook for Friday is unfortunately like Wednesday again - with heavy rain for most of the day - with the weekend unsettled and a mixture of sunshine and showers.
