Met Office weather forecast for next seven days after weekend of heavy rain

After a wet weekend many will be hoping for the summer sunshine to return after a warm and dry June.

Heavy downpours led to flooding on roads and motorways across Greater Manchester on Sunday.

And Belle View Vaccination Centre was even forced to close after the showers caused the car park to flood.

But are things brighter over the next few days? And can we expect the return of the sunshine?

Monday

Monday will be cloudy for most of the day as the temperature reaches its highest at 6pm at 20C.

As it gets cooler in the evening there is a high chance of heavy shower overnight from 11pm.

Tuesday

The rain from Monday night will carry on into the early hours and afternoon on Tuesday. The temperature in the morning will remain steady at 14C for the whole morning. The rain will clear up in the afternoon as it gets warmer by 12pm with the temperature reaching 15C and peaking at 18C by 4pm. There is a risk of thunderstorms early afternoon.

The rest of the evening will remain warm and cloudy as the temperature fluctuates between 14C and 15C

Wednesday

Expect a gloomy and rainy morning on Wednesday.

As the afternoon clears up there will be some rainy spells scattered throughout the afternoon with temperatures getting as high as 18C mid-afternoon. The evening will be clear with few clouds as it cools down drastically to 15C.

Thursday

Temperatures will continue to increase on Thursday peaking at 19 C in the afternoon. It will be a cloudy day with some sunny spells in the late afternoon.

Friday

As the weekend starts Manchester will some higher temperatures on Friday which will carry on throughout Saturday and Sunday.

Friday will be mostly cloudy with small sunny spots throughout the afternoon as the temperature peaks at 21C mid-afternoon. By the evening, it will cool down slightly to 17C for a cloudy night.

Saturday

While there will be some sun throughout Saturday, it will be overshadowed by dark clouds and consistent rain as temperatures peak at 20C. The evening will cool down to 17C and include a small amount of rain that will clear up soon after.

Sunday

The end of the week will see less rain but also less sun as it's cloudy for most of the day. Temperatures will fluctuate between 15C and 19C throughout the morning and afternoon with a small chance of rain in the late afternoon.
