Met Office weather forecast - Bright sunny Sunday for Bristol in store

A ridge of high pressure will continue to make this weekend feel like spring for the first time.

The ridge of calm, dry and clear weather is coming up from Spain and will bring wall-to-wall sunshine for the city, and for much of Britain, on Sunday, March 22.

After a chilly night, dawn on a frosty morning will start from just after 6am, and it'll be sunny all day with no chance of rain, and only a few clouds to get in the way of the sunshine.

Temperatures will be fairly slow to creep up, and will only reach 11C by around 1pm, but it will feel slightly chillier with a fairly brisk easterly breeze. If you can get out of the wind in a sheltered spot, then the sun could feel warm on your back.

The sun will go down just before 6.30pm, and temperatures will drop rapidly - it'll be as chilly as 2 degC overnight into Monday, and the prospects for Monday are looking fairly similar to Sunday, with the weather set to remain dry for most of the rest of the week ahead.

Health chiefs are - at present - still saying it is OK to go out for walks in the sunshine, unless you are isolating because you have suspected coronavirus symptoms.

People are being urged to stay in their homes, not undertake any journeys unless absolutely necessary, and not visit places where there could be crowds, maintaining two-metre spaces around them, and washing hands regularly.

Social gatherings - groups of friends, or children meeting up, even if outside, are advised against.
