It's been a long while since the UK experienced a sustained heatwave quite like this one.
And while cooler temperatures are expected by the weekend, with some rain predicted, the long-term forecast is for the thermometer to begin nudging up again.
The good news for sun-worshippers, and the bad news for those who prefer something a bit cooler, is that there could be some "tropical" weather over the next few weeks.

In the coming days some western areas could see highs of 33C, while most areas will be in the high 20s.
Met Office chief operational meteorologist Steven Ramsdale said the rising temperatures are going to continue through a large part of this week, as they issued their first ever extreme heat weather warning.
Cooler temperatures are expected by the weekend though, with some rain predicted.
But what is the outlook for next week and into next month?
The MEN took a look at the Met Office's long range weather forecast to find out.
Next week's outlook
UK outlook for Saturday, July 24 to Monday, August 2
The Met Office says there will be more unsettled weather in the south, but the northwest will remain "especially hot".
Forecasters also warn of rain showers, with thunderstorms possible.
The forecast in full says: "High pressure begins to lessen its grip by Saturday, as it drifts northwards. As it does so, more unsettled weather moves in for the weekend, starting in the south as heavy, possibly thundery, rain Saturday.
"Remaining very warm with plenty of sunshine in the northern half of the UK, and possibly locally hot, especially in the northwest.
"Cooler for some northern areas and windward coasts. Some low cloud, mist and sea fog can be expected for some of these areas, as well as parts of the southwest into Sunday.
"For the rest of the period, spells of rain or showers are likely for many areas, with some heavy rain or thunderstorms possible at times. Temperatures just above average for most, to modestly above average in the north. Winds remain light."
What it will be like in August
UK outlook for Tuesday, August 3 to Tuesday, August 17
We could see what feels like tropical conditions next month, with above-average temperatures, but an increased risk of thunderstorms.
The Met Office outlook in full says: "By early August, warmer and drier-than-average conditions look likely to return for much of the UK, although there is an increased risk of thunderstorms, especially in the southeast.
"By mid-August confidence becomes rather low, but with changeable conditions most likely. Above-average temperatures continue to be signalled for much of the period, perhaps becoming very warm or hot at times in the south."
