People venturing to pub beer gardens as COVID lockdown eases this week take note.

You will need your layers on as the weather forecast says it will be a few days yet before temperatures get milder.

According to the Met Office, the South West will be feeling cold with a mix of sunny spells and showers.

But as we approach the weekend that walk for a pint or a haircut looks like being a bit warmer.

Here is the Met's five-day forecast for the South West of England:

Today: (April 11, 2021)

A cold start to the day with sunny spells but also some showers in the west. Showers breaking out more widely during the afternoon, but easing by the evening to leave clearing skies. Feeling cold, although warmer in any sunshine. Maximum Temperature 10 °C.

Tonight:

Clear and dry this evening but some patchy cloud and the odd isolated shower arriving through the early morning. Feeling cold with a widespread frost. Minimum Temperature -2 °C.

Monday: (April 12, 2021)

A frosty start for some but cloud and showers spreading from the north during the morning. These showers will ease through the evening leaving a fine night. Maximum Temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday: (April 13 - 15, 2021)

Rather cloudy with occasional showers on Tuesday and Wednesday although some sunny spells too. Dry with some sunshine on Thursday. Gradually becoming milder.
