Met Office weather for Leeds: Hour-by-hour forecast as 18-hour thunderstorm warning in force

Today many people be hoping to enjoy a BBQ outside, picnic in the park, or crisp pint in the pub as millions across the UK celebration the Queen's 70th year in reign.

And while many have patriotic celebrations planned out, an umbrella might be necessary if you live in Leeds and surrounding areas. On Saturday the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning from 12am until 6pm on Sunday (June 5) as thunderstorms are expected across the West Yorkshire city.

The predicted thunderstorms may cause travel disruption, and potential flooding. There are concerns over flooding, travel delays, flight cancellations and power cuts due to the storms.

The Met Office say: "Thunderstorms developing over parts of England and Wales from early Sunday may cause travel disruption and, in a few places, flooding."

In the forecast for today the meteorologists added that there will be: "Low cloud and hill fog at first with outbreaks of drizzle, mainly over high ground. A band of heavy rain, perhaps with thundery downpours, will arrive from the south late morning, this likely becoming patchy but remaining through the afternoon. Maximum temperature 12C."
