Met Office UK weather forecast for Sunday - which will be a sunny day

Weather forecasters from the Met Office are predicting a much nicer day on Sunday than everyone had on Saturday, with conditions drying up nicely as the day goes on.

Saturday's heavy rain and thunderstorms which drenched Bristol on Saturday afternoon will be a thing of the past, as conditions improve as Sunday begins.

The forecast is for the day to start cloudy and overcast but dry, with temperatures steadily climbing from a muggy and humid overnight of 15degC.

But as the cloud breaks and we see the sun in mid-morning, there is the chance of a shower or two for a few hours up until lunchtime.

But from noon onwards, things will brighten up considerably, the cloud will break more often with some warm sunny spells sending the temperatures up to 20degC again.

Those prolonged sunny and then cloudy spells will continue into the evening, and it will be a pleasant, dry, warm and sunny one for Bristol as the weekend ends.

The only downside will be a blustery wind that will put pay to any chance of seeing a hot air balloon over city this weekend.

Enjoy the sunshine on Sunday, because the heavy rain is due to return on Monday - and it is going to rain for pretty much all of the daylight hours on Monday.
