Met Office speak out over claims 20 degrees C temperatures to hit UK next week

The Met Office have had their say on the predicted 20°C temperature Britain could reportedly feel next week.

According to the Daily Star, a 'high pressure system in the Atlantic will sweep the UK early in March' providing glorious sunshine.

WXCharts show temperatures will increase from this week's freezing conditions to 19C on Tuesday, March 10.

Weather Outlook predicts it will be around 17C, while BBC Weather predicts “mild” weather in mid-March.

However, the Met Office told the ECHO the beginning of the month is actually set to be rather chilly.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "For the start of March it looks like will be predominantly rather cold with frosts likely overnight during any calmer interludes and only occasional milder days.

"As we get to the middle of the month temperatures are most likely to be above average at times, but there will be large diurnal variations should more settled conditions take control, with frosts becoming likely.

"The average daytime temperature for the UK as a whole for March as a whole is 9°C.
