Met Office shares Edinburgh sunset times ahead of Bonfire Night

Ahead of Bonfire Night, the Met Office are sharing exactly what time the sun will set in Edinburgh.

Even though it happens every year, we still 'can't believe how dark it is' by the time we're finishing up at work.

While winter doesn't officially start until December, Edinburgh woke up to a freezing chill as temperatures plummeted and 'felt like' 0 degrees this morning.

Patchy frost was detected over Scotland and the blue skies offered that crisp winter feeling.

This week, the time the sun will set in Edinburgh continues to get earlier and earlier each day. So if you plan on taking the dog for a walk, or want to know if your child needs a reflective jacket to walk home in, you can see the exact times it will get dark below.

Thursday November 4

The Met Office reports that the sun will set at 4.27pm on Thursday.

The sun only came up at 7.25am which means there will be less than 8 hours worth of daylight in Edinburgh.

Sunset in Edinburgh on Friday November 5

Bonfire Night will see the Edinburgh skies lit up displays, although many events are cancelled, we reckon people will light them from their gardens following the news rules.

The sun will set on Bonfire Night at 4.24pm, meaning the sky will be a black canvas for the fireworks to really shine from 6pm-the official time people are allowed to set fireworks from.

Saturday November 6

Although the fifth of November is past, fireworks often continue through the weekend.

It will start to get dark in Edinburgh earlier with the sun setting at 4.22pm.

Sunday November 7

By Sunday, the sun will set in Edinburgh, according to the Met Office by 4.20pm.

Monday November 8

For those attending after school clubs, it might be wise to get the reflective jackets and accessories out as the times for sunset start getting earlier.

Edinburgh will start to get dark by 4.18pm with the sunrise becoming later at 7.34am.

Tuesday November 9

Tuesday will see temperatures creep up to 12 degrees celcius with cloud.

But while it may feel slightly warmer than the week previous, the sun will set in Edinburgh as early as 4.16pm.

Wednesday November 10

By Wednesday, the temperatures will drop as Edinburgh gets dark.

Although Met Office forecasts it to be 7 degrees by 6pm, it will feel like just 4 following the sun set in Edinburgh at 4.15pm.
