Met Office shares devastating update about the UK weather for August

The Met Office has issued an update about what the weather will be like for Brits next month - and it's crushing news.

It was originally predicted that there would be a second heatwave in the UK next month, though now it looks like this could be delayed.

The Met Office had originally said warmer conditions could from August 2 to August 16.

Now it looks more likely that any long spells of sunshine will come later in the month, reports Birmingham Live.

The Met Office says mixed conditions will likely remain for a few more days from August 6, with no dominant weather type and "sunny spells likely to be interspersed with showers or longer periods of rain".

But there is good news after that, with the long term forecast saying: "As we head further towards mid-August, it is most likely to become more settled with drier and warmer conditions developing."

However, as with all long range forecasts, confidence become lower towards longer timescales.
