The Met Office is predicting wet and windy weather today as the country is to be battered by rain for 10 hours straight.
Forecasters predict cloud and heavy rainfall on Thursday with people urged to get their waterproofs and umbrellas out amid stormy conditions.
The Met Office said: "You may need your brolly if you're in Scotland this Thursday".
The forecast adds: "Early cloud and rain over northern Scotland spreads southwards reaching Northern Ireland and far northern England this afternoon."
Precipitation will be even higher in Glasgow today when it peaks at 5pm with a greater than 95% chance of rain.
Glasgow's forecast today looks to be quite dreary: "Mostly cloudy and quite windy with many places staying dry during morning.
"Rain developing over north Argyll, becoming persistent and heavier, extending to all parts in afternoon. Drier, clearer later. Maximum temperature 15° C."
Whereas residents of Edinburgh may be enjoying a dry morning, "heavy showers" are in the forecast.
The chance of precipitation in Edinburgh will peak at 80% come 5pm this evening.
"Dry morning with sunny spells at first then becoming cloudy.
“Rain reaching Edinburgh early in the afternoon will become more persistent and extend southwards later in afternoon, heavy for a time. Quite windy. Maximum temperature 15° C."
The next few days do not look any more promising.
On Twitter, the Met Office predicted that a "cold front will introduce some chilly conditions to end the week".
