Met Office predicts two-week July 'heatwave' is on the way

After a mixture of sunshine and showers kicked off the beginning of July, there's some good news for sun seekers in the coming weeks.

The Met Office is predicting warmer climes in England, with temperatures soaring for some parts of the country.

There is an "increased" chance of hot weather from July 19, according to the weather forecaster.

But the experts stop shy of using the term "heatwave" - and they won't predict any actual dates, either, Birmingham Live reports.

But other meteorologists suggest "increase chances" of some "very hot" spells from July 19. Heat maps show skyrocketing temperatures by the end of the month.

Stifling mercury levels are expected in the south and the Midlands in particular.

Temperatures will hit 27C at times in the capital, with London braced for the best of the weather.

Swathes of the south and Midlands are also anticipating great weather by the end of the month, too.

Lockdown restrictions are expected to ease on July 19 in England, and loosening of measures could spark heaving bars, pubs, parks and beaches across the country.

The chance to reunite will friends and family could also offer the opportunity to BBQ in the skyrocketing temperatures.
