Met Office predicts scorching weather as temperatures soar over Easter

It's set to be a scorching weekend as temperatures will reach 20C in Merseyside tomorrow.

The coronavirus restrictions face their toughest test so far over the Easter weekend as more people could be tempted to break the stay at home rules.

Today (April 9), it will be warmer than Barcelona in Spain as highs of 18C are expected across Merseyside.

Friday (April 10) will see temperatures soar again as they hit a balmy 20C, before slightly dropping to 18C and 13C on Saturday and Sunday.

But despite tomorrow's warm weather, it's not set to be sunny, with cloud predicted and light rain showers.

The Met Office said: "Today will be a dry start across much of the region, though there may be the odd spot of drizzly rain over the Pennies.

"The afternoon should see plenty of bright or sunny spells with light winds, making it feel warm.

"After early showers clear, Friday should be another warm day with plenty of sunshine. A few showers may arrive in the south towards evening, but most places will remain dry.

"It's warm for many over the weekend with a mix of sunshine and showers. Turning cooler by Monday as more settled weather returns with many seeing bright or sunny spells."

Across the rest of the UK, temperatures set to reach 25C in some parts of the country.
