Met Office predicts exactly when storms could hit Nottingham today

It's going to be a wet and windy day across Nottinghamshire with a thunderstorms warning in place from the Met Office.

A yellow warning for thunder has been in place since 4am on Wednesday, October 20, lasting until 12noon.

The Met Office says a brief period of heavy rain, thunderstorms and very gusty winds may cause some disruption on Wednesday morning.

It's already rained in Nottingham on Wednesday morning and more is expected with the worst of the conditions coming between 11am and 12noon.

Conditions will clear up past 2pm in Nottingham, weather experts have said.

But strong wind gusts will remain throughout the day, reaching around 32mph.

Here's the Met Office outlook for the rest of the week:

Today (October 20):

A dry and bright start with sunny spells. Rain then pushing northeastwards through the morning, this heavy at times, with a risk of hail, thunder and squally winds. Turning drier again into the afternoon, with some further brighter spells developing. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Mainly clear through the evening with some clear spells. Turning increasingly cloudy during the early hours with outbreaks of rain towards dawn. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Thursday:

A cold, but mainly dry and bright day with long spells of autumn sunshine. Generally windy with scattered showers in the east, along with coastal gales. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Bright and breezy at first Friday, with coastal gales and scattered showers, easing later. Saturday, dry, bright, but increasingly windy, with overnight rain and milder temperatures. Sunshine and showers Sunday.
