Met Office predict exactly when mini-heatwave and 25C temperatures will hit Liverpool

Although summer may be over, it seems as if Liverpool could be set to enjoy a sunny spell at the start of September.

The region experienced a gloomy end to August as we were hit by rainy conditions - but the Met Office's latest forecast provides a more optimistic outlook for this month.

Forecasters at the agency expect the underwhelming weather to continue over the weekend, but scorching summer-like weather is anticipated to arrive on Merseyside next week.

The forecast for the North West of England today reads: "The recent pattern continuing, remaining fairly cloudy, with the best of any sunshine in the west. Most should see some sunny spells later. Staying dry throughout. Maximum Temperature 20 °C."

Damp conditions are expected on Sunday and Monday - but the weather is predicted to drastically improve from Tuesday.

The outlook for Sunday - Tuesday says: "A bright start on Sunday but likely becoming cloudier and perhaps wetter in the evening. Cloudy and possibly damp on Monday.

"Drier and brighter on Tuesday. Becoming warmer."

Temperatures on Tuesday are set to skyrocket to 24C - as Liverpool is set to enjoy an Indian summer.

The scorching conditions are predicted to stay for Wednesday and Thursday with the region preparing for 25C temperatures on September 8.

The warm weather is set to slightly settle on Thursday as the Met Office predicts 23C temperatures and sunny intervals changing to partly cloudy by the evening.
