Met Office predict exact day the sun and warm weather will return

Since the storms last week, which saw flash flooding across Merseyside, it is fair to say autumn is well on its way.

But there looks set to be a break in the moody clouds as the warmer weather is set to return for perhaps the last time this year.

According to the Met Office forecast, temperatures are set to be slightly higher than usual for September in the UK from tomorrow (Tuesday) this week.

While the weekend saw lows of 12°C, dark clouds and drizzle, by Tuesday the sunshine will come back bringing highs of 19°C - higher than the September averages of 18°C.

There will be clouds around all week, but experts believe it will remain largely dry through into the weekend.

Highest temperatures (20°C) can be expected on Thursday and the weekend will be filled with sunny intervals.

Monday: 17°C - Heavy rain changing to cloudy in the afternoon.

Tuesday: 19°C - Cloudy changing to sunny in the afternoon.

Wednesday: 19°C - Mist changing to cloudy by late morning.

Thursday: 20°C - Sunny intervals changing to partly cloudy by nighttime.

Friday: 18°C - Light showers changing to sunny intervals by lunchtime.

Saturday: 19°C - Sunny intervals changing to partly cloudy by nighttime.

The following week's forecast is unsettled, so make the most of those sunny intervals.

The Met Office said: "Confidence is fairly low through this period.

"However, the current signals suggest low pressure will lie to the northwest of the UK.

"This may bring unsettled conditions to north western areas, with a low risk of stormy conditions at times. In the southeast more settled weather is likely.

"Towards the end of October, a trend towards more widely settled conditions is possible.

"Overall, rainfall is expected to be above average with temperatures warmer than average."
