Met Office on Bristol weather: 11 hours of sunshine today as hot weekend forecast

Bristol is set to bake in another day of wall-to-wall sunshine as forecasters predict highs of 22C.

Eleven hours of glorious sunshine is set to bake our city today (Friday), between 7am until 5pm.

It's the perfect weather for hosting a September BBQ, or venturing out to one of Bristol's lush green spaces.

And this weekend it set to be another scorcher, with the mercury remaining in the low 20s.

But on Saturday it's likely there will be a lot of cloud around, before sunny spells make a comeback on Sunday.

Temperatures soared across Bristol earlier this week, hitting 27C on Monday. While Frittenden, in Kent, peaked at 31.3C.

According to the Met Office, the last time it recorded a September temperature of 30C or more was back in 2016 when 34.4C was logged in Gravesend in Kent.

Since digital records began in 1961, there had only been six previous years where temperatures of 30C or more were recorded in September: 1961, 1973, 1999, 2006, 2013 and 2016.
