Met Office names 14 Scots areas expected to see the warmest weather today

Scotland is set to roast in the spring heat this afternoon, according to the latest weather forecast.

The Met Office is anticipating temperatures to climb into the mid-teens across large parts of the north and west of the country.

Thermostats could even climb further, with some places in the Highlands potentially reaching 20C later this afternoon.

But a brisk breeze could result in the feels-like temperature to climb down a touch.

And the sunshine is expected to stay across large parts of Scotland tomorrow, with temperatures dipping just slightly compared to today.

The expected warmest places in Scotland today

While forecasters anticipate 20C potentially hitting some parts of the country, winds are set to bring down the feels-like temperature a touch.

But temperatures generally as expected to be above average when the warm weather peaks at 3pm this afternoon.

The northwest Highland village of Torridon is forecast to be the warmest area in Scotland on Saturday, with a high of 17C expected.

Thirteen other places in Scotland are forecast to reach 16C at the same time.

These include:

  • Ullapool
  • Carn Dearg
  • Letterewe
  • Callakille
  • Nairn
  • Forres
  • Kinloch Hourn
  • Cannich
  • Inverguseran
  • Kyle of Lochalsh
  • Broadford

Forecast for Sunday

The warm sunshine is expected to continue across the west and north of Scotland on Sunday, according to the Met Office.

While the temperatures are forecast to remain above average for this time of year, it is expected to be slightly cooler than Saturday.

Many east coast areas of Scotland are forecast to struggle to reach double figures tomorrow.

Met Office Meteorologist Alex Deakin explains: “Sunday will be a little cloudy in the east, with a bit more cloud bubbling up through the day.

“The risk of a little bit of mist at times and with the stronger breeze coming in from the east, it will feel chillier.

“Temperatures will be a few degrees down but they could easily pop up to 16, 17 and maybe 18 Celsius across the Highlands.

“Temperatures in Edinburgh and east coast will only reach nine of 10 celsius on Sunday.”
