This is due to the fact that British weather is heavily influenced by changes in the Atlantic.

Even the smallest change in the Atlantic can have major implications for the state of the weather in the UK.

Here's a breakdown of the long-range weather forecast throughout October, according to the Met Office.

Sunday 3 Oct - Tuesday 12 Oct

The first half of October will experience low pressure which will result in showers or longer spells of rain.

At times, this rain will be heavy in many areas around the UK.

Strong winds are also very likely at this time of year, especially areas along the coast.

As this area of low pressure moves away another is likely to move to the north of the UK.

This will bring further showers or longer spells of rain to the north and northwest, along with the potential for strong winds.

The south and east are likely to experience more favourable conditions at this time with drier and more settled weather.

However, there is still the potential for showers and bands of rains to hit this area.

Temperatures are likely to start out slightly below average, meaning it will be colder than usual for this time of year.

Thankfully, it should begin to return to near average later on in the month.

Wednesday 13 Oct - Wednesday 27 Oct

Met Office predictions for the second half of the month are less confident than the first half, due to the length in time.

However, they believe the most likely outcome for the north of is that low pressure and extremely wet weather will stick around.

Meanwhile, pressure in the south and southwest will continue to build up, leading to drier conditions.

Later on in the month, the chance for more settled conditions should become more prevalent.

Temperatures around this time of the month should improve slightly from the first half, being likely around or above average.
