Reason for Met Office update

A yellow warning for rain was originally in place for large parts of the south west region and Wales.

However, this was updated this morning at 5.20am following recent trends identified by the Met Office that snow will be affecting some hill areas in western England during this morning's rush hour, in particular around the Cotswolds.

Hour by hour forecast

8am - BBC weather says there is a 90 per cent chance of heavy rain across Bristol. With temperatures at around 3C some of this rain could turn to light snow.

9am - Light rain showers are expected across Bristol. Again because temperatures are sticking at around 3C, snow is still likely across some parts.

10am - The snow warning comes to an end at 10am. Temperatures lift slightly to 4C, with light rain showers persisting across much of the city. Rain is forecast throughout the day until 7pm this evening.
