Met Office issues yellow weather warning for Saturday as heavy rain expected in Wales

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Wales as persistent, heavy rain is expected this weekend.

The slow-moving area of wet weather is forecast to develop across western parts of England and Wales on Saturday, which could bring flooding, power cuts and travel disruption to locations, including Cardiff and Swansea.

Which areas will see the worst of the rain is still up for debate, but some places could be hit with as many as 60mm, meteorologists say.

According to the Met Office forecast: "There is a lot of uncertainty in where the rain becomes prolonged but some locations are likely to see 15-25 mm during the day with isolated totals of 40-60 mm possible over higher ground in particular."

The rain is expected to ease through the course of Saturday night, but not before causing disruption across the country.

The Met Office is warning that the spell of heavy rain could cause flooding and power cuts to homes and businesses.

Delays and cancellations to bus and rail services are also likely.
