There is some good news later in the week as ex-Hurricane Sam is expected to push an area of high pressure towards the UK.
Met Office forecaster Nick Miller says: "There is a change in the flavour of the autumn weather this week. Temperatures took a dip last week, and they start this week a little below average for the time of year.
"It all down to a change in the position of the jet stream as ex-Hurricane Sam misses the UK well to the north west, but will build a ridge in the jet stream that will allow high pressure to move in, meaning it will turn drier and warmer."
