Met Office issues wind warning for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire as Storm Jorge approaches

Another weather warning has been issued for Nottingham and the county with Storm Jorge forecast to hit this weekend.

The Met Office has issued a severe yellow wind warning from Saturday, February 29 until March 1.

The warning, which runs from 12pm on Saturday until 12pm on Sunday, could see delays to public transport and the chance of debris being thrown around.

It is the latest in a series of warnings which have been issued in the last month following storms Ciara and Dennis.

Both led to parts of the county experiencing flooding and disruption caused by trees falling on roads and power cuts.

Nottinghamshire forecast for the rest of the week

Today:

Cloudy and chilly with outbreaks of rain and sleet turning to snow in places, mainly on higher ground. This will clear southeastwards around midday to leave most places dry with sunny spells, and any lying snow accumulations should soon melt. Maximum temperature 7C.

Tonight:

A dry evening with predominantly clear skies, allowing areas of frost to form. Cloud increasing after midnight with rain, sleet and hill snow spreading into western parts around dawn. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Friday:

Outbreaks of rain soon spreading across the region, initially these may be wintry but should turn to rain by midday. Remaining cloudy in the afternoon with further spells of rain. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Rain, heavy at times, clearing Saturday morning. Scattered showers developing thereafter, heavy at times, with very strong winds overnight into Sunday. Further showers Monday but less windy.
