Met Office issues weather warning with strong winds to batter UK

Windy cold weather will hit the UK this weekend with a warning in place from forecasters.

The Met Office said there is potential for a spell of very windy weather across much of the UK during Saturday November 27.

Delays to transport and likely as well as potential damage to buildings due to the gusts.

There is also a small chance that power cuts may happen and possible changes to mobile phone coverage.

A yellow weather warning is in place from 00.01am on Saturday until 6pm the same day.

The warning covers most of the UK and all of the Midlands including Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

On what to expect, the Met Office said: "Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely.

"There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs.

"There is a small chance that some roads and bridges could close.

"There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage."
