Met Office issues weather warning for Wales and says we could see snow

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for much of south Wales on Wednesday amid concerns that heavy rain could turn to snow for many overnight.

Downpours are expected to move through the region during the afternoon hours, affecting areas from St David's to Tenby, Swansea and Cardiff.

The rainy spells may be scattered initially before becoming more persistent around 5pm, when the weather warning officially comes into effect. It will then last through 11.59pm on Wednesday.

In some locations, between 20 to 30mm of rain are forecast to fall within just a few hours, posing the risk of flooding and travel disruption. But as temperatures plummet to the single digits overnight, rain may transition to snow for some.

According to the forecast: "Rain may also turn to snow over the higher routes in south Wales towards midnight, perhaps with a few centimetres accumulating."
