Met Office issues weather warning for thunderstorms in Leeds

It's been a long time coming, but we could finally be seeing scorching hot temperatures arriving in Leeds soon - but prepare for thunderstorms with it!

The mercury has struggled to get anywhere near 20°C in recent weeks as we've been stuck under a blanket of seemingly never-ending rain and although the temperatures are about to soar, there will only be a short break in the downpours.

Friday looks set to be a nice day to end the week, with sunny intervals and cloudy spells providing the perfect backdrop to a pint after work.

Saturday will be even better, with the temperatures rising to 20°C and the rain holding off again.

However, a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued by the Met Office for Sunday night. It encompasses all of Yorkshire and large swathes of the country, with torrential rain and lightning strikes expected.

The thunderstorms will continue into Monday, but the temperature will continue to rise despite the rain. It's expected to peak at a balmy 20°C on Tuesday and Wednesday - but the rain will continue to fall!
