Met Office issues warning over torrential rain, hail and lightning that could hit Nottingham

The East Midlands woke up to pretty good weather this morning - but it's not predicted to last for too long.

Just when you though we had seen the last of the near-constant rain the Met Office has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms .

Forecasters say there's a possibility that more poor weather may develop between 6pm tomorrow and 9pm on Wednesday.

It could lead to heavy rain, hail and lightning.

The warning is in place for a huge chunk of England, including the East Midlands

The Met Office say: "There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services."

The forecast for Nottingham until Wednesday isn't bad, with a warm sunny day predicted today, with a 30% chance of rain between 6-8pm.

Tuesday is even better, with warm temperatures and no rain predicted.

There's a good chance of rain on Wednesday though, with wet weather forecast between 4am-1pm.

Nottinghamshire has been battered by wind and rain in the last week, with near constant rain causing real issues before Download Festival started.

The weekend was better though, with spells of sunshine punctuating the rain.

There is good news though - when they last reported Severn Trent said our reservoirs were nearly 90% full.
