As the nights draw colder and longer, the autumn season approaches.
Much of the nation is currently experiencing a cold snap, with gusty winds and bursts of rainfall.
Forecasters at the Met Office have released predictions on what the weather will be like in the coming weeks, from October 19 to November 2.
According to Birmingham Live, the Met Office has predicted for the end of the month: "There is a chance of a colder settled period becoming established by early November."
The forecast goes up until November 1 and 2, making this a likely date.
It tallies up with comments made by a chief forecasters last week.
Met Office senior meteorologist Greg Dewhurst told The Sun: “We’re likely to see some snowy weather in higher parts as October moves into November."
Looking ahead from October 9 to October 18, the Met Office predicts: "Temperatures are likely to remain somewhat above normal for the time of year, but with chilly nights at times too.
"A change to more unsettled conditions may get underway by the end of the period."
Its forecast adds: "Ahead of this, areas of mist and fog will likely be slow to clear, whilst clearer weather follows into parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
"Dry conditions are likely to then dominate for much of the UK for the rest of the period, with only occasional spells of rain likely in the north and west at times."
