Met Office issues two-day weather warning for wind expected to batter Notts

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for strong winds which are expected to sweep across the UK at the weekend.

Beginning at 6pm on Saturday (February 8), the warning forecasts very strong winds that could bring travel chaos.

The warning covers all of Nottinghamshire.

A weather warning is in place for the whole UK lasting more than 24 hours until midnight on Sunday night (February 9).

The Met Office warning said: "Very strong winds may bring disruption to parts of the UK later this weekend.

"Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport expected.

"Coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities affected by spray and/or large waves.

"There is a small chance that some roads and bridges could close.

"There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.

"There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs."
