Met Office issues two day weather warning for the M5 and South West

The Met Office has issued a two-day weather warning which affects the M5 and parts of the South West.

From 8pm today (Thursday, November 26) until midday tomorrow (Friday, November 27) there is a 'Yellow' fog warning across much of the country. These fog patches could cause some travel disruption across the nation and down the M5 towards Taunton where it is expected to be clear beyond.

Some of the areas in the South West affected by the fog include Bristol, Bath, Gloucester, Swindon, Wells and Bridgwater.

Be prepared for slower journey times with possible delays to bus and train services.

There may also be a small chance of delays or cancellations to flights from Bristol Airport.

The Met Office says "fog patches may lead to some travel disruption" and says we should expect:

  • Slower journey times with delays to bus and train services possible
  • There is a chance of delays or cancellations to flights

The warning reads: "Fog and freezing fog patches are expected to develop quite widely on Thursday night, with some of these becoming dense in places with very poor visibility.

"This is most likely to affect parts of central England and east Wales, but other areas are also at risk.

"Fog is likely to be slow to clear during Friday and may last through the day in some places which may lead to some travel disruption."
