Met Office issues severe weather warning for torrential rain in part of Wales

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning of rain for Friday, just in time for the school holidays to begin.

Many people will be planning to hit the road for their summer holidays or head off for a camping trip.

However, a yellow weather warning of rain has been issued for Wales with heavy rain likely to cause disruption during the morning rush hour.

The warning is being issued in from 5am on Friday morning to 10am.

The Met Office says the rain will clear during the mid to late morning.

Some places will see 10 to 15mm of rain and others could see 20-30mm of rain fall in three to four hours.

This is what the Met Office had to say about a three-month heatwave hitting the UK.

There are no weather warnings in place for the rest of the week and next week Wales will be basking in the hot temperatures once again.

Here is the outlook for Wales for the next few days.

Saturday

Cloudy weather changing to light showers by lunchtime. A maximum of 20 degrees.

Sunday

A sunny morning for Wales with the sun turning cloudy in the afternoon. A maximum of 22 degrees.

Monday to Wednesday

The warm temperatures are set to return to Wales on Monday and will continue on into the week. Tuesday and Wednesday will both be extremely hot days with temperatures expected to hit 29 degrees.
