Met Office issues Liverpool weather warning with flooding likely

It has been warned that floods are likely to hit Liverpool as the Met Office issue another weather warning for wet conditions.

The Met Office said floods could hit businesses and homes, sparking disruption.

The yellow warning for rain has been put in place from Sunday, at 12am, until 6pm Sunday evening.

The warning comes after Liverpool suffered another washout weekend just last week.

Next week will also be particularly chilly, forecasters warned.

The Met Office said: "The best of any sunshine will be in the south and east. Temperatures will be around average for the time of year but it will feel colder in the wind and rain.

"Over the following weekend the weather may well remain changeable though there is less confidence about this."

For tonight, forecasters said: "Rain will become more widespread and persistent overnight with some heavy bursts at times.

"Fog is likely over the hills, but it will remain mild. Minimum temperature 10C.

"On Sunday the rain occasionally heavy at first, will gradually ease through the day, becoming increasingly light and patchy. Remaining cloudy for most. Maximum temperature 16 °C."
