Met Office issues Edinburgh weather update as city set for sun ahead of Arctic blast

Edinburgh is set to see temperatures plummet as an Arctic blast is expected to hit the UK.

But the Met Office has issued an update before Edinburgh locals feel chills of just one degrees next week.

Although we have enjoyed a mild autumn with record highs hitting in September, winter is truly on its way as temperatures will start to drop by Saturday.

Through this week, Edinburgh will enjoy temperatures hitting double figures between 10 and 13 until Saturday where it starts to drop to 11 and right down to four degrees at night.

The Met Office reports that by Sunday, Edinburgh can enjoy a crisp day with sunshine forecasted throughout the whole day until sunset at 3.55pm

However you'll want to wrap up as temperatures will only reach seven degrees but 'feel like three' between 12pm and 3pm.

During the night it's expected to drop right down to three degrees.

Moving onto Monday, sunny intervals are forecasted from 9am but only reaching six degrees maximum, it will feel like four by 12pm and at night get the fluffy socks ready because Met Office warns Edinburgh locals will feel like they're freezing at -1 at 9pm as temperatures drop to just two.

Met Office forecasts the long UK forecast from November 21-30 with a warning of snowy spells across higher ground.

They say: "High pressure will often lie close to western or southwestern parts of the UK during this period. This will tend bring a north or northwesterly airflow across the UK, with the most unsettled conditions across northern areas. Here, showers or longer spells of rain are likely with some snow across higher ground, possibly reaching low levels at times. Strong winds are possible across the north, especially around coasts and across high ground.

"Further south, it is likely to remain somewhat drier and more settled with the chance of some longer sunny spells. However, these clearer conditions will lead to some chilly nights with frost in places and some fog patches, these slow to clear during the morning."
