Met Office issues Edinburgh rain update ahead of a gloomy Halloween night

The Met Office have issued an update for the weather in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh locals have been feeling the chill as we start to wave goodbye to October.

As the 'polar plume' brought temperatures right down to just five degrees in the city at night last week, rain was predicted by BBC Weather for two weeks.

However, the Met Office is forecasting more cloud with scattered showers-so we might be able to enjoy a break from the rain throughout the week.

Although Halloween night is set to be wet and windy for trick or treaters.

Today (October 25), the Met Office predicts: "A bright day with sunny intervals and scattered showers, many of them over West Lothian with just a few showers elsewhere. Fresh to strong southwesterly winds gradually easing. Maximum temperature 12 °C."

Tuesday looks like it will brighten up with outbreaks of rain in the morning but clearing up by 12pm with 'a milder day and strong southwesterly winds.' Temperatures are expected to reach a maximum temperature of 15 degrees celsius.

The Met Office's outlook for Wednesday to Friday in Edinburgh says: "An unsettled few days with outbreaks of rain, prolonged and heavy at times. Temperatures staying on the mild side with fresh or strong southwest winds."

For Wednesday and Friday, weather forecasters are predicting rain the morning but expect it to clear up by the afternoon. However, Sunday looks like the day for a raincoat with downpours forecasted from 12pm right through to 9pm at night.

For the remainder of October and first week of November, the Met Office is predicting that the UK will still see 'unsettled' conditions with rainfall, turning heaving at times coming in from the west.

However, later in November, the weather forecasters warn of frost and fog as things become more settled with less wind and rain, bringing colder nights.

Winter is truly coming.
