You may have been enjoying (or not) the recent hot weather, but on the flip side, the Met Office has now issued a warning that thunderstorms are on their way. But don't worry, summer isn't over just yet.
After today's scorching temperatures, which are estimated to hit a high of 27C, and come with high UV and very high pollen ratings, tomorrow (Thursday, June 23) looks to offer more of the same but with a downside. The Met Office is predicting thunderstorms and torrential downpours which, it says, may cause travel disruption and, in a few places, flooding.
The yellow warning is in place from 10am on Thursday. June 23, until 11.59pm the same day. so they could hit anytime. However, temperatures will remain high - the weather forecasters are predicting 17C at 6am, rising to 22C by 10am and hitting a high of 27C by 3pm.

A yellow warning means that as well as potential thunderstorms and torrential rain, there is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost. The forecaster says that "there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds".
There have been no warnings issued for the rest of the week, however, as we head towards the weekend, the summer temperatures are expected to fall but the sunshine remains. On Friday, June 24, the Met Office predicts a high of 22C with Saturday and Sunday expected to reach highs of 20C and 19C respectively, so good news for those struggling to sleep in the current hot weather.
