Met Office issues 6-hour thunderstorm warning for parts of Notts

Weather forecasters predict thunderstorms and flooding could hit parts of Nottingham later today,

The wet weather follows the mini-heatwave Nottingham basked in over the week where temperatures soared to 31C.

The Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for Newcastle-Upon-Tyne all the way down to Ipswich on Friday, September 10.

Newark-on-Trent and Worksop are set to see a few heavy showers that may result in flooding and localised travel disruptions.

Residents should expect some lightning, possible flooding and cancellations to train and bus services.

There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater or lightning strikes.

The warning is from 2pm to 8pm today.
