Met Office issue yellow weather warning for Merseyside

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Merseyside meaning more misery for the summer holidays.

The region has already been battered by storms, which caused localised flooding and road closures, and despite today's sun we should be braced for more downpours.

Forecasters are predicting torrential rain for the whole of Friday with a warning in place from 8am to 10pm.

The day is set to be a wash out with spray and flooded roads likely to make journeys longer and the Met Office warned that some homes and businesses could be in danger of flooding.

Temperatures will be a mild 15°C with strong winds and gusts of up to 25 miles per hour.

The Met Office said: "The often heavy rain will soon spread eastwards, with strong winds and coastal gales.

"Thunder will be possible by the afternoon but the wind will ease later."

But there is some good news.

Following the downpours, Saturday and Sunday are predicted to be mostly dry and bright.

There maybe some rain at times during the day, but overall it will be a massive improvement on Friday's storms.
