Met Office issue weather warning for ice as temperatures set to plummet in Glasgow

Watch out on the road home tonight - there could be ice on the way as temperatures in Glasgow are set to plummet.

The Met Office has issued a further yellow weather warning for ice today's alert for snow.

According to the latest warning, in place until 10am tomorrow (Tuesday), “many areas will be affected by occasional showers of rain, hail, sleet and snow, with clear spells in between leading to frost and icy surfaces.

"Further snow accumulations of 2-6 cm are expected over parts of Scotland, mainly in the west at elevations above 200m."

The weather warning is in place for the Strathclyde region which includes Glasgow, Renfrewshire. East Ren, Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire from 8pm tonight.

This morning police warned motorists to be aware of difficult driving conditions in the greater Glasgow area, especially on untreated roads, and a yellow alert from snow is in place until 10pm tonight - but with a new warning  for ice in place until 10m tomorrow, we say take care out on the roads and stay safe.
