Met Office issue weather warning as Storm Hannah set to batter Bristol

People in the South West have been told to brace themselves for heavy winds this weekend.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind covering  Friday (April 26) and Saturday.

The conditions - part of a weather front dubbed Storm Hannah by Met Éireann - will set in at 9pm tomorrow evening, and last until 3pm the following day.

The Met Office has warned the wind could lead to travel disruption, with road, rail, and ferry transport across the South West likely to be affected.

Bus services could also be impacted, and high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges are likely to be delayed.

Short term power loss could be experienced by homes and businesses, as well as a loss of other services, could be seen due to fallen branches.

It's also likely some coastal routes, sea fronts, and coastal communities could be affected by spray and/or large waves.

Gusts of 60-70 mph are likely around exposed coasts of south Wales and southwest England, whilst gusts of 45-55 mph are likely across more inland parts of central and southern England on Saturday.
