Heavy rain and wind to batter Liverpool, says Met Office

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for wind, with gales of 45mph expected to batter Liverpool.

Tomorrow heavy rain and wind i s set to hit Merseyside, with widespread disruption expected.

And now the Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning ahead of the weather system hitting.

The warning comes into effect at 5am on Tuesday and lasts until 5pm the same day.

The Met Office said: "Very strong winds are expected during Tuesday and may cause some disruption.

"Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely.

"Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer, made worse by spray and surface water.

"Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely.

"Some short term loss of power and other services is possible."

The rest of the week is also looking to be unsettled.

The outlook from Wednesday to Friday is: "Windy on Wednesday with some sunny spells, but showers will start to feed in from the west, some heavy, thundery, and perhaps wintry on the highest ground.

"More persistent rain will move across the region on Thursday, turning heavy and prolonged at times. A wet start too on Friday, but rain will clear to the east and some sunny spells may develop later."
