Met Office identifies four hours when thunderstorms could strike Bristol

The Indian summer will be blasted away as thunder rolls in across Bristol on Tuesday (September 28).

After an overcast morning, the skies will open with heavy showers and thunder from 1pm to 3pm and from 4pm to 6pm, according to the latest Met Office weather forecast.

Even around these times, there could be some heavy rain from lunchtime to the day's end. Temperatures will reach 17C highs

There is some brighter weather news for Wednesday, with a sunny morning and a largely dry day. But you can expect more city rain on Thursday with cloudy and overcast skies to end the month.

October starts on Friday with light rain clearing by early evening (17C) with similar conditions on Saturday (15C) and Sunday (16C).

The above graphic from Ventusky shows how there could be some heavy rain around Bristol from around 4pm on Tuesday.

The wider South West is also in for a batting on Tuesday, which is described as a "wet day" by the Met Office, who have said there will be frequent showers and longer spells of rain - some of which will be heavy.

In the region from Wednesday to Friday, expect that drier and sunnier Wednesday before that wet and windy weather arrives along with cooler temperatures.
