Met Office hour-by-hour forecast for Bristol as 20C highs expected in 'calm before the storm'

It’s set to be another sunny day in Bristol today with temperatures expected to reach 20C, according to the Met Office.

The forecaster predicts “a dry day with plenty of sunshine” before the weather takes a turn for the worst this weekend.

It’s been an exceptionally warm September so far but thundery showers are expected to batter the region this weekend.

Here's the hour-by-hour forecast for the rest of today, tonight and into tomorrow.

9am: Temperatures are set to jump two degrees in an hour as the sun rises to 14C. There is little chance of rain with wind gusts of 8mph.

10am: Another two degree jump to 16C with the UV level climbing to 2.

11am: A further rise in temperature to 17C with a wind gust of 10mph.

12pm: Temperatures climb to 18C, feeling like 17C, with a jump in UV level to 3.

1pm - 2pm: At lunchtime it’s set to get even hotter with temperatures reaching 19C.

3pm - 4pm: Temperatures will reach their peak at 20C for at least two hours, although we’re told to expect cloud.

5pm - 6pm: A dip back to 19C, but still feeling warm for this time of day. A stronger wind gust of 16mph.

7pm: A drop in temperature as the sun sets, to 18C, feeling like 16C. UV level drops to 1.

8pm: 17C feeling like 16C as it starts to get dark.

9pm: A further drop to 16C, feeling like 15C, which is still exceptionally mild for this time of day.

10pm- 5am: Temperatures remain at 15C overnight, until the sun rises.

6am onwards: A similar day is in store tomorrow (Thursday, September 22) with maximum temperatures of 20C. The Met Office forecast for tomorrow reads: “Patchy rain becomes widespread across western areas through the morning, with eastern areas largely dry. Becoming dry for all through the afternoon as rain eases, but staying cloudy throughout. Breezy. Maximum temperature 20 °C.”

Outlook for Friday to Sunday: The Met Office states: "Staying cloudy with patchy light rain on Friday and Saturday, with winds easing through Friday. Sunny spells and showers Sunday, heavy and possibly thundery. Feeling quite warm throughout."
