Thunderstorms are forecast on Sunday (June 18) after a Yellow Weather Warning was issued across the East Midlands. Though temperatures will remain above average for the time of year, a low-pressure system in the Atlantic is helping to introduce more rain into the forecast, with the possibility of this falling as thundery downpours for some.
For the vast majority of the UK, Friday saw a continuation of the dry and sunny conditions of recent days, with temperatures widely into the mid-20s Celsius. But predictions today from the Met Office reveal some bright spells through the morning, as well as the odd shower for the region.
Showers will increase in frequency through the afternoon, which will be heavy and thundery at times. These will combine into a larger area of persistent and heavy rain during the late afternoon. Maximum temperature 24 °C.
