Met Office forecasts snow this weekend in the wake of Storm Christoph

Bristol is set for more freezing temperatures and 'hill snow' is forecast this weekend in the wake of Storm Christoph.

The Met Office says temperatures are set to plummet on Saturday (23 January) to below freezing and there is a risk of snow on higher ground.

It follows a yellow weather warning for the South West, and heavy rainfall and hail overnight causing flooding in some places.

The weather forecast states it will be “cloudier on Saturday with the possibility of rain and hill snow.

“Rain and hill snow turning to sunny spells on Sunday. Feeling cold throughout.”

WX Charts, an organisation which provides international weather data, has plotted where it expects to see snow this week.

The latest graphics show the greatest chance of seeing the white stuff will be around 3am on Sunday, with a thin band of snow stretching from Scotland, across West and South Wales, into North Somerset and the west of Bristol.

This is then predicted to move east from about 6am.
