Met Office forecasts snow could hit South West tonight

In recent days, it certainly has been getting colder.

With temperatures dropping, it is time to stay home, wrap up and put the heating on.

However, it now seems a surprise could be on its way to the South West tonight: snow.

On Monday (November 30), the Met Office revealed what the chances are of a White Christmas in the UK this year and then on Tuesday the forecasting service said we could see snow much sooner than that - by this weekend.

But the forecast has now changed and the Met Office is predicting we could see some snow tonight.

It says today (Thursday, December 3) will be a cold day with frequent showers and spells of rain.

The Met Office continues: "A cloudy and wet morning with frequent heavy showers, turning wintry over the highest ground.

"A few clearer spells during the evening with further showers. Maximum temperature 8 °C."

It then goes on to say on tonight's forecast: "Patchy cloud at first with scattered showers.

"Cloud thickening during the early hours with longer spells of rain and possible hill snow. A risk of patchy fog and localised frosts. Minimum temperature 1 °C."
