Forecasters predict highs of 29C at the end of the week.

The hot weather is predicted in the city on Friday (July 31) as temperatures rise in the middle of the afternoon.

However, light showers are expected from 7pm.

Friday is expected to be hotter than Thursday, July 30, where temperatures are expected to reach 24C.

A slightly cooler day is given out for Saturday, August 1, with highs of 22C.

A spokesman for the MET Office said: "Thursday probably on the cloudy side at first, but brighter later. Friday then fine and very warm with sunshine, ahead of fresher conditions arriving Saturday, with potentially thundery showers."

Speaking about the forecast for Wednesday, July 19, the MET Office spokesman said: "Starting chilly locally, but a fine day should follow, with plenty of sunshine. Feeling warmer than of late, with winds falling light. Sunshine should turn hazy under high cloud later. Maximum temperature 21 °C."
