Met Office forecasts it will feel like -7C in parts of Wales this week in cold snap

According to the Met Office the recent warm weather is about to end with Wales is braced for freezing temperatures.

The mercury is going to plummet into Tuesday with below-average temperatures due to settle in until the weekend.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: "It's going to turn colder in the next few days. [Monday] will see highs of 14C during the day in some spots. By Tuesday the temperatures have dropped, only reaching 9C maximum, but could go below freezing at night.

"These temperatures are a bit colder than average for the time of year and will probably feel colder due to the warmer-than-average weather recently due dominant high pressure.

"The cold weather will last until Friday but we expect it to be milder over the weekend."

How cold will it feel?

Despite most overnight temperatures hovering around the 0-2C range it is going to feel a lot colder.

Some parts of south Wales are set for temperatures that feel about -3/-4C.
